The Commishioner's Report
Thoughts and Observaions          from a neutral point of view

Friday, Dec. 30th

The fall banquet is finished.  I gave out 50 prizes, stickers and pictures.  Pizza was good along with the desserts.  One more salad will be added next year, along with extra ranch dressing.  Congratulations to Carmen and Mark Mayer for winning the Fall Championship.  I explained the new scoring and format, I think some got it, some didn't, but that is expected.  Excited to begin the Winter season, as it is shaping up to be the best yet.  I had a request to add another format, a single person score format.  Mrs. #5 said, no.  End of discussion.  Disappointed Bobby, Dennis, Mira, Pam and Mark could not attend.  Hopefully, in the spring.  I need a Bismark from the Donut King.  Elbows are sore this morning a day after the plasma procedure.   Hopefully, I can play well this Sunday.  Getting tired of not playing well. Tired of not playing softball too.  May need to live with the pain and just start playing again.  Clash teams are picked.  Gonna be competitive.

WEEK 1.  Week one finally came and went.  Loblolly is not an easy course.  The women didn't get to move up too often.  Nice warm day.  Easy 2 person scramble format.  Bobby and Julie along with Craig and Andrea topped the field with 26 points.  Most everyone liked the new scoring format.  All the scores were close.  Made it to Cody's afterwards.  Vicki had the brown bottle flu and was a no show.

Excited, Kim Ross finally realized we DO have a website.  Also, twin grandkids on the way.  Craig was happy the Chubb on the green, gets a point.  3 Birdies on number 9.  #5's shot, Big Jim's shot and Phil's shot was used for the birdie putt. (All on the Carmen Crusher's team)  Hmmmmmmm

Week 2.  Scotch doubles was played today and Captain Carmen teamed Julie and I to go on the first match to face off against the Fight'in Flaagans.  My elbows are messed up and   I was 1/2 the golfer today.  I think she set me up for failure.  And Julie comes down with the China Flu. We could not play our best golf today, but we gave it a try.  We lost (Shocker)!  Charli played well.  (They played the course on Saturday).  Dodi, Dennis, Kenny and Krissy sent me a text with a picture of them all placing their hands on their forehead in the shape of an "L".  Hurtful.  The skins were won by Phil, Phil, Sue and Debbie.  Easy day for the rest of the members, as it was the 4 person scramble.  Lonny, Phil and Mark F drove the green on #9.  Sam and Sue are back.  Sam bought 2 pitchers of beer.  Beautiful day today at Tarpon Boil.

Week 3.  Well, week 3 is in the books.  The format this week was 3 and 1, minus 5.  Turtle Mound, which is not an easy course.I lost the special ball and so did Harry.  I've lost 2 now.  We scored a low of 27.  Dean, Phil, Krissy and Sue B had a high score of 38.  Sam and Sue R beat KMac and Nicole in scotch doubles, so the Captain's Cup is even at 1-1.  Sunny, but chilly with the temperature around 50-60 degrees.  Last week, I sent an invitation out to all the Happy Gilmore participants to join me for my 60th birthday celebration in Las Vegas.  So far, nobody has indicated they wanted to come to my birthday party.  I had one other birthday party in 1st grade.  I invited  my "so called" friends. I think my mom limited it to 12 of my closest friends.  I remember riding my bike to each individual house and putting the invite on the front doors.  It was hot that day, mid-June. So excited. I had games planned, my mom made a homemade cake, and the living room was draped with blue balloons.  The only person that showed up that fateful day, was my older sister's best friend. (and I never gave her an invitation). Needless to say, the friend won all the prizes.  This is beginning to have the same feeling.  I might need to re-think birthday parties for myself.  We moved from South Bend, Indiana that March, so, even though I didn't see them on my birthday, I actually, never saw them again.  Arrived in Michigan and set out to make new friends at my new school.  I wonder if my sister's best friend would travel to Las Vegas.........

Week 4 had D1 and #5 with the China Virus.  We played.  Out this week were the Somers, Lonny and Mira, Kim R and the Grinch's.  First time playing "Pick Your Poison."  Everyone liked the format.  Although, several teams gave themselves a point or two for hitting the green on #9.  No points are awarded on the 9th hole.  It's in the rules (which nobody reads).  Changed one rule today, upped the green tee age to 80.  Mark F and Debbie beat Dennis and Sue B in the captain's cup tournament. The picture is for you Dennis.  Weather was windy and 75 degrees.  The weather reminded me of our 1st grade field trip to the Potawatomi Zoo in South Bend, Indiana.  I remember that day, since we were leaving the school parking lot early in the morning and would not be back until after school had let out for the day.  My mom gave me a twin pack of twinkies for my lunch.  No bag, just the wrapper they came in.  I remember all the other kids had coolers with juice boxes, cartons of milk, and sandwiches, with chips and cookies.  My mom took a picture of me with the bus in the background as the parents loaded the coolers of food and drink.  I was holding my double pack of vanilla twinkies in my hands.
